Events reports

The weather came up trumps and the sun shone for the midsummer sports afternoon with many parents enjoying a picnic and watching the cricket.

The atmosphere was very relaxed, with many picnickers arriving throughout the early part of the afternoon to enjoy the sunshine before the sports.

The teams for rounders contained both children and parents (some reliving their childhood) and, judging by the laughter and shouts, it as a very lively game. All the participants said they would be back to take up the challenge next year. Many thanks to Bronwyn for supervising this activity, it really was a wonderful success.

In the tennis tournament we had five courts filled with mixed doubles of both parents and children. I don't think anyone was keeping score but a great time was had by all. We were very grateful to Hannah and Lee for giving up their time (and their tennis rackets!) so that everyone could play.

Refreshments provided by Jill Campbell and her team were excellent with some wonderful cakes made by Jane Frere. The strawberries and cream section disappeared by mid afternoon and our donations for the day came to over £85.
