Wine and Pudds after the Christmas concert
A truly fitting end to a busy but enjoyable Michaelmasterm with a record number of pupils and parents attending this event in the Baines Gym after the Christmas Concert. The Jazz Band, directed by Mr Sackett, played
wonderful music and the committee plus parent volunteers provided
splendid puddings for us all to enjoy. The mulled wine and beer was particularly
welcome on this very cold evening and thanks to a very energetic
committee, the event was a wonderful success raising £400
and contributing to the year's efforts. |

| The fourth
Yuletide Fayre was bigger and better than ever. Following months of
potential stallholders asking for a space the Mansion was bursting at
the seams, with an enormous selection of items to buy.
The Bishop's Library was occupied by PPC students selling a variety of things: Young enterprise group Emprior took orders for their new cards; Peru World Challenge participants raised funds for next summer's expedition; Prior Concern members sold Cheshire Home's calendars. The John Wood Chapel did a roaring trade in refreshments. Stallholders pay a £20 deposit and then 10% of their takings over £200. The income from this exceeded past years' by hundreds of pounds, with a total profit on the day of nearly £1,700. Last year's profit was about £1,200. A magnificent SPF team made the day go smoothly and successfully, earning the appreciation of stallholders and customers alike. Thanks to everyone who came and spent some money, helped unload and load vehicles, make refreshments and generally contributed to a most enjoyable and worthwhile (if tiring) day. If you would like to help with next year's Fayre or you would like to hire a stall please contact Margaret Hill. |

Saturday 16th October 2004: Peruvian Night (supporting
World Challenge expedition to Peru in 2005) Congratulations to 'Team Peru' for putting on such a good meal, serving at the tables and bringing our drinks. There were a large number of raffle prizes, with tickets being bought during the slide show held in the Academy Hall, after team members had carried our chairs from the Refectory (for a small fee!) |

The SPF/PPA Midsummer Sports Afternoon
took place on the last Sunday of term. The weather had looked decidedly
dodgy beforehand (with a team of 4 picking strawberries in the rain
the day before) but in the event we were able to sit on the grass and
picnic before enjoying a sporting afternoon. The 1st XI Cricket team beat the PPA team (including a couple of current parents), finally finishing at 8.30pm. The tennis courts were kept busy all afternoon with a tournament, very ably organised by Lizz Munton and Pip Reed (both U6 leavers - thank you both) and Cressida Bonas. Boules was played by the Old Gym, and a croquet pitch was set up on the grass by the astro. Strawberries and cream and a selection of patisserie was served in the Pavilion throughout the afternoon. Thanks to everyone who took part, either playing or serving tea or clearing up at the end. |

Sunday 2nd May: Dedication of Our Lady of the Snow (after Mass) |
| You might recently have noticed, on driving through school that, to the right of the drive above the DT Centre and swimming pool, Our Lady of the Snows has been restored. We were delighted to respond to Fr Fred's request for money to be able to undertake the restoration and are thrilled with the end result. Our statue will be dedicated on Sunday 2nd May after Mass and all are welcome. |

The winning team, "Universally
Challenged", romped home 10 points ahead of the runners up. We believe
they won last year as well - will they make it three years in a row in
2005? .The winners of the wooden spoons were cheerful to the end. Have
a look on here where there are photos of
the evening.

Burns Night, directed by our endlessly patient Bursar, Charles Freeman. There was lots of dancing, whirling and twirling, just the thing after the wonderful supper. We hope the Bursar can be persuaded to repeat the fun next year.
