Carnival 2004
PRIOR PARK CARNIVAL 2004

This was the second Carnival organised by the Society of Parents and Friends of Prior Park College. Just look at the photos below to see the fun that people had! The second glorious Prior Park Carnival took place after a downpour of rain in the morning which threatened to hamper the enterprise. However it turned into a wonderful afternoon and evening, with a feast of music and entertainments enjoyed by a record crowd and an attendance figure of 400 paying adults. One side of the site was dedicated to giant inflatables and games, and judging by the screams and the sound of breaking china everyone was enjoying themselves. The other side of the site contained the quieter activities and stalls - did I say quiet - not in the hands of Samba Sulis, who opened the event accompanied by dancers from Baines in a colourful array of costumes provided by members of the committee. They continued to punctuate the event with their contributions together with more reflective sounds of Dr Wells' Ceilidh Band. On the stage area the Concert Band provided some beautiful music and the musical feast was rounded off by the brilliant student band Tangent Eye. The tea stall and beer tent did a roaring trade throughout, supplemented by delicious hot food from Liz Dawson and her talented team. The evening was rounded off by a spectacular Firework Display. The event raised £2,800 which contributed to monies we are able to distribute throughout the year. Many thanks to all those who helped to plan, set-up, and man the Carnival, your help and generosity was invaluable. Our next Carnival will be held in September 2006. With all this time for planning and fund raising it should be even more spectacular. We'd really appreciate it if you could get involved with the organisation. It's a big task planning, entertainment, music, sponsorship etc. Click on any photo below to enlarge. |
