Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is now integrated into all the key stages within the National Curriculum.

  • Do you know how ICT is being integrated into your child's education?

  • Are you able to help your child with ICT problems?

  • Do you feel terrified about using computers?

We have received information about a new course at the University of Bath that might answer your questions and help you feel more comfortable about the new world of ICT. This new course does not assume any ICT knowledge, simply that you are keen to acquire some new skills. You will cover the important aspects of technology such as word processing, gathering and analysing data and the use of multimedia. The Internet has a wealth of information that is waiting to be tapped. ICT is the gateway to a new age of discovery. During the course you will take part in a number of projects that will help you get a real feel for how ICT is shaping the way we learn and work.

There is a choice of daytime or evening classes at either the University's Claverton campus or in the Centre for Lifelong Learning at Carpenter House in Bath. Ten 1.5 hour classes are £68.

For more information ring Graham Blacker on 01 225 386 286 or to enrol ring the Community Course office on 01 225 386 552.

The SPF is always looking for parents who are willing to help plan, organise or just lend a hand at events.  One or two have expressed an interest in joining in from September. If you think you might be interested please come along to the AGM on September 23rd, or contact one of the committee members overleaf during the summer. Your school needs you!

We are losing several faithful and longstanding members from the Committee this year but of course hope to see them at future events.

Geoffrey Lee and Gervase O'Donovan have been past Chairmen; Moya Lee has been Secretary; Sheila Mogg has been Treasurer and her husband Brian a very supportive Committee member and organiser of the Fete in previous years.

Thanks to them all for their time, energy and enthusiasm over many many, years.

Thanks also to Alison Holbrook who has been a very active Staff Rep this year; and to our leaving 6th form reps - Siobhan Kelly and Edward Fingleton who have provided a very useful link between us and the school. Good luck to you all.
