We have done French, Italian and Australian, now it's time for Spanish. What are we talking about? An evening of Spanish food, music and dancing with a short quiz thrown in for the intellectuals amongst you.

Saturday 17th May is the evening you need to keep clear in your diary.

As with most SPF events, this will be an informal and fun evening and good value for money. Tickets are £7.50 and include supper (paella) and a glass or two of sangria. There will be a cash bar for wine, beer and soft drinks. It will all happen in the Mansion.

Alex Foster (a very talented L6 student) has kindly agreed to play some Spanish guitar for us, and we are hoping to procure the services of a flamenco dancer. (If you know one, please let Margaret know!) Please book your tickets early by phoning or emailing Margaret Hill or drop into Reception in person. It is important that we know numbers in advance in order make sufficient paella and buy

We held two Second-hand Uniform Sales in the Lent term, both of which were well attended and showed there is great demand amongst you for good quality second-hand uniform. The January sale raised £100 and the March one raised a healthy £400. We will settle up with all sellers at the end of the year (July) after the next sales (at the end of June). It was decided that it was too fiddly giving out little bits of money after each sale and will be more worthwhile giving it in one chunk.

There were a large number of new parents interested in buying uniform at our last sale and so we have decided to run sales on both the 11+ and 13+ Induction Days on Thursday 26 June and Friday 27 June, exact times still to be decided, but hopefully an hour or so morning and afternoon to tie in with dropping off and collecting children. We will publish times closer to the day - or phone Reception for information. This should suit both new and existing parents. The Summer Term diary shows another sale on Saturday 28th June but this is incorrect.

Please sort out your out-grown uniform and bring it into school in the week beginning Monday 23rd June. If that is completely inconvenient (perhaps you are a boarder's parent and will not be at school that week), by all means drop it into Reception at half term.

Uniform has to be in very good condition for it to sell - which we sell on a 50:50 basis. We reserve the right not to put on display any item that does not meet the highest standards. Shirts are particularly hard to shift - so they have to be in perfect condition to stand a chance. Parents are always on the look out for blazers; girls' skirts seem to be thin on the ground; we have loads of unsold grey trousers. Games gear is always in demand.

Mrs Pepler organised a Careers Fair one evening in March aimed at the higher end of the school. The gym was filled with representatives from about 50 professions.

Quite a few parents manned stands and talked to interested students and parents about their chosen careers.

The SPF Committee was asked to serve refreshments. A team of volunteers served drinks and nibbles all evening which went down very well both with delegates and visitors.

The fair will run every two years so the next one will be in 2005.
