For almost 12 months now, I have been one of the two Sixth Form Representatives on the Society of Parents and Friends Committee. Right from the start, I was made to feel totally welcome and have also felt that any comments that I was able to make were listened to by the Committee.
We meet roughly twice a term to discuss ways of raising money for the benefit of all pupils in the college. The Committee is a team and works closely together. It was interesting for me to learn just how much effort is involved in organising any function, from a relatively small quiz up to the major fund-raiser of the year - the Summer Fete.
Many parents and pupils must feel that they pay the fees and that should be enough, but we, as pupils, do not have to look far to see how much we have benefited from those little extras, which the SPF have been able to provide for us over the years. For example, the many donated books in the school library, sports equipment, funding for the theatre - to name but a few. It is those little extras which make all the difference!
So, please continue to support your SPF and watch us, the pupils, reap the benefits!
