Text Box: Preparations are in hand to welcome in the Year of t
he Dog. And, as ever, Prior will be in the celebratory
front line.
Our Chinese New Year festivities begin at 7.30pm on
Saturday 28 January with drinks in the Mansion
House, followed by dinner, traditional Chinese
entertainment, some of which will be provided by
the college’s own talented students, and a few surprises! There will be a bar, a
raffle and fortune cookies - not necessarily in that order.
Tickets will cost about £18 (to be confirmed at time of going to press) and are
available in January from Reception. * Otherwise recognized as 2006.

Text Box: Quiz and chips — and here’s your starter for ten
Text Box: Butter up your brains for the most gruelling intellectual challenge of the
year. Quiz and Chips is on Friday 11 March 2006. Old timers will already
be queuing for their tickets. Newcomers need only know that the evening
combines VERY HARD questions (supplied by match master Richard Hill)
with a fish and chip supper. There is a cash bar and the questions get
easier as the bar gets emptier (strange but true). There will be prizes.
Our Mansion Matters correspondent regrets being unable to give more info as she can’t remember
much beyond round three last year. Teams of six please, and ets cost £10 per person, available from
Reception in February. All welcome,
Text Box: Did you know…..
In ancient times, Buddha requested all the animals to meet him at New Year.
Twelve came and so he named a year for each one and announced that people born in each animal’s year would exhibit some of that animal’s per sonality.
Those born in dog years tend to be loyal, kind and generous (and that’s about half of all the lovely lot in Lower Three).
