"The Society of Parents & Friends exists to dream up events and functions which endorse and enhance the qualities of friendship and community which have become the hallmark of Prior Park. Some functions have a fund raising theme, and others are offered simply to give the school the opportunity to meet, to welcome newcomers to the school, and allow us to feel that we are involved and committed in a joint enterprise."
I came across this SPF Mission Statement while looking through some SPF papers a few days ago and it seemed a good time to bring it to your attention. It explains very well what the SPF is for. It also pretty much encapsulates my reasons for agreeing to be Chairman of the SPF for the next (hopefully!) couple of years.
We chose Prior Park for our son's education and hope that our daughter will join him next year. I love the school, the setting and the opportunities it can offer my children and I want to make the most of it. I hope to encourage more parents to become more involved and feel included as well. Several people have asked me how they can become involved with the SPF. You are all members of the SPF by virtue of your being a parent with a child at Prior Park. You don't need to be on the Committee to be part of it. You just need to come to some of the events we organize, be they fundraising or purely social. Tell us your ideas for events you would like us to put on. Phone or email me anytime with any comments/ideas. We would love to have greater feedback.
Last week's Wine and Pud's after the School Concert epitomized the role of the SPF. It was great to see so many parents, staff and children all eating and drinking together while listening to the Jazz Band, and it made money too.
I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible in the near future.
